Completing an Internship- 5 points (Patricia Robinson)

Over the summer, I participated in an internship program that gave you exposure to orthopedic surgery, The program focuses on introducing minorities in medicine to orthopedics in hopes to further diversify the specialty. We accompanied various orthopedic surgeons across subspecialties over the course of 6 weeks to gain hands on experience and insight into the lifestyle of surgical residents. We completed workshops, cadaver labs, journal club, and presented on a case we experienced during the internship. This program reinforced my interest in medicine and gave an incomparable peak behind the curtain of the career I am working towards. We worked very closely with some of Emory's finest orthopedic surgeons.
