American Sublime, Amy Sherald Exhibit (Visiting galleries/museums - 2 points) Alyssa Amaker

As a UNCF Mellon Mays fellow, I was given the chance to visit Amy Sherald's American Sublime art exhibit at the High Museum of Art in Atlanta.

The piece that initially drew me to Sherald's artistry her portrait of Michelle Obama. It felt like a dream come true to finally see this piece in person— it was massive! The colors were so sharp and the strokes so smooth. I love how Sherald uses gray scale to capture a range of black skin tones. I also loved the piece below titled "If You Surrendered to the Air, You Could Ride It."
