Tonight I saw Noire’s spring concert “Mother Nature.” The concert was full of songs that encompassed Mother Nature, human nature, love, existence, etc., and moved me to tears a few times if I am honest. I have been a frequent Noire concert attendee since freshman year when my best friend became a member. As long as I knew about a Noire concert, I would not miss it. Coming to the close of this school year, with me graduating a year early and her staying the full four years, the concert was way more emotional than usual. Tonight was the last time I will ever see her perform in this group, and while that thought absolutely devastates me, I could not be more proud of my friend and all that she has accomplished with and within this group. She joined the executive board quickly, and established herself with such a presence and grace that I can never not think of this group when I think of her or vice versa. This group has been such an important part of her time here and, in turn, it has been an important part of my time here at Spelman as well. My last Noire concert was beautiful, and I cherished every second.
