Amaya Loubeau: Participating in a performing arts group or ensemble: 5 points
I participated in the Achievemore Black History Showcase as a performer and vocalist, where I opened the program with “Stand Up” by Cynthia Erivo during a segment highlighting the history and significance of HBCUs. The showcase brought together actors and performers to both educate and raise funds for our school community within APS, making it feel like a collaborative, purpose-driven production rather than just a performance. Over five weeks of rehearsals, I worked closely with the group while also pushing myself individually, especially as it had been nearly a year since I had last performed. Stepping back on stage challenged me to rebuild my confidence and expand my vocal range, as I had never performed in that register before. This experience reminded me of the discipline and vulnerability that performance requires, and reaffirmed my connection to music as a space for both personal growth and collective storytelling. -Amaya Loubeau
