Volunteer work related to career goals (per year): 3 points(Neriah Carson)
Volunteering with G.L.O.W (Girls Lending Outreach and Work) has been a really meaningful experience for me, especially when we partnered with a church food pantry to serve the community. One of the biggest strengths of this experience was being able to directly help people in need and see the impact of our work in real time. It felt fulfilling to give back, not just through service, but also through kindness and connection. If anything could be improved, I think having more consistent volunteer days or expanding outreach efforts could allow us to help even more people.
This experience connects to my passion for health sciences and serving others, especially underserved communities. It reflects a pattern I’ve noticed in my life—whether through academics or extracurriculars, I’m always drawn to opportunities that allow me to help people and make a difference.
Overall, volunteering with G.L.O.W has strengthened my commitment to a life of service. Giving back in the name of the Lord is something I truly value, and it’s something I want to continue doing long-term. As I move forward in my career, I want to find ways to combine my passion for science with community service so I can continue uplifting and supporting others.
