Traveling to culturally significant locations: Olivia Liddie '27 ( 5-7 points)
I had the opportunity to travel to the Castle of Prague, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its age and complexity. According to the Guinness Book of World Records, this structure makes up the largest coherent castle structure in the world. It is also an incredibly unique mix of Romanesque and Gothic architecture styles making the building a true sight to see. Here the Bohemian kings ruled the province. Eventually Czech presidents would use this building as a symbol of the country and its power.
I had never even thought I would make it to Prague, mych less the Castle of Prague. Studying abroad has allowed me to access places in the world I thought I would not be able to see until much later in life. Traveling like this to places like the Castle of Prague has taught me not only to be curious about other types of cultures, histories and realties. But has shown me how truly similar many types of people are. Looking around the courtyard of this world wonder, every person young or old, different and same shared looks of awe and wonder.
Even on that dreary day the impact of the castle is not lost. Additionally, in the background you can see the hundreds of people brought together by the chance to see this beautiful wonder in person.
