Traveling to culturally significant locations: Olivia Liddie 5-7 points
I had the opportunity to travel to Segovia Spain with my study abroad program. Segovia Spain is a world UNESCO cite known for the Roman aqueducts built in A.D 50. While it is not clear why these aqueducts were built, they have lasted centuries and attracts most tourists to Segovia. Segovia is one of the three Spanish cities in Castile and Leon Spain that before the reconquista had populations of Christians, Moors and Jewish people living together.
This experience allowed a glimpse into the roots of Spain. The aqueducts suggest the Roman history of Spain while the architecture of the city emphasizes the north African history of the country. It was incredibly powerful to walk in the places that began as a place of harmony, transformed into Catholic kingdoms, and sent Columbus on his journey to the 'new world.'
