Sloan Mitchell - Creating Original Artwork: Nineteen Wishes & Ponyo Painting (5 points)

Nineteen Wishes & Ponyo Painting

For my nineteenth birthday, I went to paint pottery with my friends at All Fired Up in Emory Village.  The shop offered so many options, such as a cat, bowls, octopus, etc.  I picked out at bowl and painted one of my favorite animated characters, Ponyo.

In my senior year, we had a clay unit in art class, and I used to find it incredibly stressful because I could never figure out how to mold it the way I wanted.  I eventually created a whale shark, which was inspired by my love for the Georgia Aquarium.  However, this process was very comforting as I was around my friends and painting something that I loved.

I used an inspo picture from Pinterest to sketch out Ponyo and freestyled from there.  Next weekend, I will pick my project and all my friends from the shop.  I can't wait to see the final products.
