Working on the technical team for Single Black Female allows me to engage with theatre from a production perspective rather than solely from performance. I am responsible for supporting sound cues and assisting with technical execution throughout the production process. This role requires constant precision, focus, and adaptability, as each cue must be executed accurately and on time. Every technical choice directly contributes to the audience’s experience and understanding of the story. The work highlights how much coordination happens behind the scenes to ensure a smooth performance. Being part of the technical team emphasizes the importance of collaboration between cast and crew.
This experience is strengthening my habit of applied learning by allowing me to merge theoretical knowledge with hands-on practice. I am actively seeing how technical elements such as sound shape pacing, mood, and storytelling. Supporting the production requires accountability, clear communication, and trust among team members. It reinforces respect for all roles within theatre, especially those that are not always visible to the audience. Working in this capacity deepens my appreciation for production work as a form of leadership. The experience demonstrates how collaboration and shared responsibility create a cohesive and impactful performance.
