Honors Program Enrichment – 3 Points
One thing I’ve quickly learned about being in the Honors Program at Spelman is that it’s not just about academics; it’s about community. One of the most fun and relaxed events I attended this semester was Pajama Night and Chill, hosted in partnership with the Morehouse Honors Program. It was exactly what it sounded like: a comfortable, low-pressure space where we could show up in our pajamas, relax, talk, and spend time with other honors students across the Atlanta University Center.
College can move fast. Between classes, athletics, and other commitments, it’s easy to stay locked into your own schedule and circle. This event allowed us to slow down for a moment and connect with other students who are navigating similar experiences. It was great to hang out with my honors brothers from Morehouse, share laughs, talk about our classes, and just enjoy the moment without the pressure of assignments or deadlines.
What made the night meaningful was how natural the conversations felt. Some of us talked about our majors and career goals, while others shared stories about adjusting to college life or balancing different commitments. It reminded me that everyone in the honors community is working hard, but we’re also figuring things out together.
Events like this are important because they strengthen the sense of connection within the AUC. Spelman and Morehouse have always shared a special bond, and programs like this make that relationship feel even more real on a student level. Instead of just being neighboring campuses, we become a supportive academic community.
Overall, Pajama Night and Chill was a simple event, but it was meaningful. It reminded me that sometimes the most impactful moments in college aren’t formal lectures or structured programs; they’re the moments where people come together, relax, and build genuine relationships.
