Let Her Cook: How Chinyere Hubbard and Aisha Bond Have Impacted the Business Field in DC
At the Let Her Cook: Ingredients for Doing Business in the District event, hosted by the Mayor's, Muriel Bowser's, Office on Women's Policy and Initiatives, I connected with numerous entrepreneurs in the DC metropolitan area. The event featured a panel of women who own successful businesses in the DC metropolitan area, as well as speakers Chinyere Hubbard and Aisha Bond. Chinyere Hubbard is the President and CEO of the DC Chamber of Commerce, and Aisha Bond is the President of the Greater Washington DC Black Chamber of Commerce. Together, they work to support, fund, and protect businesses in DC from harmful legislation and misrepresentation in the media. They offered advice to emerging businesses and promised many in the room that they would provide all the resources to further their entrepreneurial ventures. Chinyere Hubbard is pictured speaking above. While I am not particularly interested in entrepreneurship, I learned a lot from the successful women in the room about how to incorporate law and policy into various aspects of the country's concerns. Chinyere Hubbard and Aisha Bond are perfect examples of that success and of how they use their titles and platforms to support the people who need it the most. I feel honored to be Chinyere's daughter as she serves as a role model to so many adults, but has been mine forever. I am overwhelmingly excited to be at least half the woman she is and make at least half the impact that she has.
Aisha Bond is featured speaking to the right.
