Job shadowing or informational interview: 4 points(Neriah Carson)

Meeting with Dr. Bing to discuss a potential shadowing opportunity at her aesthetics and wellness clinic was a really valuable experience. A major strength of this meeting was the chance to gain direct insight into a field I’m interested in, especially hearing about her career path and what working in aesthetics and wellness actually looks like day to day. It made the experience feel more real and helped me ask more specific questions. One area that could have been improved is having more time to go into detail about the technical side of procedures or product development within the clinic.

This opportunity connects closely to my interest in cosmetic chemistry and health sciences. It showed me how science and patient care intersect in real-world settings, especially in helping people feel confident and improve their overall well-being. It also reflects a pattern I’ve noticed in my experiences—that I’m most drawn to careers that combine science, beauty, and direct impact on people.

Overall, this meeting influenced me by reinforcing my desire to pursue opportunities in aesthetics and wellness. Moving forward, I plan to follow up about shadowing, stay connected, and continue seeking hands-on experiences that will help me better understand the field and prepare for my future career.
