Ava Flanigan C/O '27 - Winning a prestigious international scholarship or award (10 pts)
This past month, I was honored to be named one of the National Society of Black Engineers’ 25 Under 25 for this year. I am part of the inaugural class, and the award is meant to highlight young engineers who are making a difference in their fields. To specify further, this recognition is reserved for exceptional students and young professionals under 25 who have demonstrated measurable impact, exemplary leadership, and sustained excellence across STEM disciplines, innovation, research, entrepreneurship, and community advancement.
At the National Conference, we participated in a Leadership Roundtable, where we spoke with one another, collegiate peers, and K-12 students about the challenges and lessons we learned while serving in leadership roles. The conversations were insightful and allowed me to vocalize the struggles I’ve gone through as a young Black woman in the STEM space.
