Attending Honors Program Events (3 pts)
Attending the “Beyond the Tassel” panel hosted by the Honors Program was a really encouraging and insightful experience. I had the privilege of moderating the panel and hearing from recent graduates and older graduates. The range of experiences and time out of Spelman made the panel very interesting. One of the biggest strengths of the event was hearing directly from Spelman graduates who were able to speak honestly about their journeys after graduation—their transitions, challenges, and successes. Their advice felt genuine and practical, which made it easier to see how the things I’m doing now connect to life beyond college. The panel created a supportive and motivating atmosphere, especially because the speakers shared not just their achievements, but also moments of uncertainty and growth. One area that could have been improved was allowing more time for audience questions or smaller breakout conversations, since many of the insights sparked follow-up questions and personal reflection.
The impact of this panel was both motivating and grounding. It helped me think more intentionally about my next steps while also reminding me that I don’t have to have everything figured out right away. It reinforced my confidence in my current path while encouraging me to stay open to growth and new opportunities. Moving forward, I plan to take their advice by continuing to build meaningful connections, seeking mentorship, and being more intentional about how I prepare for life after graduation. I also want to stay engaged with the Spelman network, recognizing how valuable it is to both receive and eventually give back through mentorship and shared experiences.
