Applying For Scholarships (2 pts) - Kristian Caldwell
While researching summer opportunities, I came across the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation Congressional Summer Internship Program. This program is open to college sophomores, juniors, seniors, and recent graduates who have not yet obtained a graduate degree and have at least a 2.5 GPA. Applicants must also either live in or attend school in a district represented by a CBC member. After reviewing the qualifications and deadline of March 27, I felt that this opportunity aligned with my academic standing and goals, so I decided to apply.
Through my research, I learned that this program provides a 9-week internship on Capitol Hill, along with housing and a $3,000 stipend. Interns gain hands-on experience working in congressional offices, assisting with daily operations, and supporting the policy-making process. This stood out to me because it offers direct exposure to how government systems operate and how decisions are made that affect communities.
This opportunity could benefit me by giving me real-world experience in a professional political environment while also strengthening my leadership and communication skills. It would also allow me to build connections and better understand the impact of public policy. Overall, participating in this program would help me grow both academically and professionally while preparing me for future career opportunities.
