Volunteer work related to career goals: 3 points(NERIAH CARSON)
The GLOW Outreach and Service Program provided me with the opportunity to volunteer at the Research and Innovation Competition, where I supported event operations and contributed to creating a welcoming and organized environment for participants and guests. Serving in this role allowed me to witness creativity, academic excellence, and forward-thinking ideas while actively giving back to the community. One strength of this volunteer experience was the collaborative atmosphere, as everyone worked together to ensure the event ran smoothly. Supporting an event centered on research and innovation aligned well with my academic interests and exposed me to projects that emphasized problem-solving and intellectual curiosity. A potential improvement would be incorporating more direct engagement with presenters so volunteers could gain deeper insight into the research being showcased. This experience connected to my educational journey by reinforcing the value of service alongside academic and professional growth. Through GLOW, we serve in the name of God, guided by Matthew 5:16, which reminds us to “let your light shine before others.” Volunteering reflected this mission as we spread God’s light by supporting others, uplifting the community, and using our time and energy to make a positive impact. Participating in this service experience strengthened my commitment to leading with both purpose and compassion as I pursue my career goals. It reminded me that success is not only measured by personal achievement but also by how we serve others. Moving forward, I plan to remain involved in service initiatives that allow me to uplift my community while continuing to grow academically and professionally.
