Obtaining a Library Card (2 points) - Olivia Liddie
I now am a public library card holder for the Castile and Leon library system. With my card I am now able to access the resources of the public library here in Salamanca as well as any of the other 517 libraries in Castilla y Leon, Spain.
Access to a library card here is incredibly powerful as censorship and banning of books continues in both countries but especially in the United States. I am excited to understand the differences in library systems as well as the differences in culture and books that are shared.
Furthermore, my local library provides a opportunity to connect with local people, resources to help with language learning and access to a developed physical collection of movies, newspapers, and magazines.
I hope by the end of my time here I am able to complete a book in Spanish. While I may need some additional time to complete my reading, I know I can do it!
