Attending an Informational Interview: Completed an interview for the A.T.I Summer Leadership Training Program (4 points) - Taje’ George
Last month, I applied to the A.T.I Summer Leadership Training Program. It is an opportunity to connect 33 HBCU students interested in public service and pursuing government careers. Recently, I was selected for round 2, the interview section.
During my interview, I was asked questions about my character, commitment to public service, why I am interested in A.T.I., and how I operate as a team member. It was a very efficient experience that taught me what government-oriented HBCU programs expect from their candidates. Additionally, it was an opportunity for me to apply the STAR (Situation, Task, Action, Result) method in my interviews. Using this method helped me avoid stumbling or stuttering as much. The opportunity was very informative about what I am lacking in my interview skills, and I plan to improve in the future.
