Christian Scott: Attending Professional Networking Events (3 pts)

Attending the lunch and learn, Q&A session, and private dinner hosted by Tufts University School of Medicine was honestly a really valuable experience. One of the biggest strengths was how open and accessible the admissions team and school leaders were. Being able to ask questions directly, hear thoughtful answers, and then continue those conversations in a smaller dinner setting made the school feel very transparent and student-focused. I gained a lot of insight into their support systems, approach to student wellness, and how they think about preparing students for the future of medicine. If there were any weaknesses, it would probably be that I hoped we had a direct pipeline to the medical school, but I am still very interested in applying.

This experience connected closely to other exposures I have had in medicine, especially shadowing physicians and participating in programs that emphasize community health, mentorship, and holistic support. A pattern I continue to notice is that the schools I am most drawn to value collaboration, wellness, and service just as much as academic excellence. Hearing Tufts leaders speak reinforced what I have already learned through volunteering and leadership roles, which is that strong medical training happens in environments where students are supported as whole people, not just future clinicians.

The impact of this experience was very motivating. It helped me better picture myself in medical school and clarified what I want in an institution, including strong mentorship, openness, and a commitment to equity and student growth. Moving forward, I plan to be more intentional about seeking out similar opportunities, asking thoughtful questions, and building relationships with medical schools that align with my values. This experience pushed me to continue strengthening my application while staying grounded in my long-term goal of becoming a physician who serves with both skill and compassion.
