Career counseling or advising session: Meeting with Ms. Bailey (2 points)
On January 14th, I met with Ms. Bailey from the Health Careers Program. She is the program coordinator for our programs with other schools. For a couple of months now, I have been meeting with her once a month to discuss my application for one of our pipeline programs. Each time, she would tell me that she was struggling to get in contact with the representative, but that I should get my application materials in order: personal statement and recommendation letters. Each time, I would be invigorated in perfecting my statement, holding out hope for the response. Unfortunately, in January, she found out that the school canceled the program due to funding issues and would no longer be accepting applicants. While the news was devastating to hear, getting my application ready for the program helped me keep my application skills fresh and improve my writing. It also gave me insight into what asking for recommendation letters looks like in college. While it is unfortunate news, I am hopeful for my other summer applications and future endeavors.
