Attending professional networking events: Attending Spring 2026 Graduate School Fair (3 points) February 17th, 2026 – (Jaina McKoy Class of 2028)

I attended the Spring 2026 Graduate School Fair in Upper Manley to start exploring potential graduate schools as I enter my junior year. I originally intended to browse around casually, given that I am only a sophomore and most of the booths were looking for Juniors and Seniors to scout out, but I quickly became more engaged as I conversed with more school representatives. I started with Drexel because they had a program that interested me, and then I went to Rutgers, which is always an option since I am from New Jersey. I also spoke with Emory, and the representative was a fellow biochemistry major who gave insight into Emory as a graduate school and offered to connect me to a summer research opportunity if needed and provided her business card to stay in contact. I visited a few other schools, but the most notable interaction I had was with the University of Pittsburgh. The representative also attended the school and could provide a more realistic insight into the student experience. I am still not sure where I want to attend graduate school, as I intend to pursue a Ph.D. in biochemistry upon graduating from Spelman, but this fair gave me a few more options to consider.
