Attending a General Interest Meeting (2points)
Research Day Interest Meeting
I attended the interest meeting and informational for Research Day 2026. I’m interested in conducting research during my time at Spelman College, specifically focusing on Environmental Justice/Science initiatives. During the meeting, I learned about the different types of research I could present, including oral presentations, exhibits, performances, and more.
After hearing about the short time frame and the requirements to participate, my research partner and I decided to wait until next year to participate in Research Day. My partner and I are focused on researching soil composition and nutrition in West End Atlanta, and since the interest meeting, we have found a professor to mentor us in our research.
Overall, the meeting was very informative and helped me realize that I need to plan a year in advance for Research Day. My research partner and I have started meeting weekly to plan our research project for next year, and I’m excited to continue researching and expanding beyond Research Day into other conferences.
