I attended the Alumni Speaker Series with Stacey Abrams, where she spoke about Black women empowering themselves through voting, being intentional about leadership, and understanding that you do not need a formal title or position of power to create influence. She emphasized the importance of showing up for your community, recognizing your voice as valuable, and finding ways to lead in everyday spaces. While I appreciated the key messages she shared, I did not always feel fully engaged by the format, even though I understand that as a political figure she often has to focus on broader talking points rather than more personal or detailed experiences. This activity relates to my other experiences because I am actively exploring what leadership looks like beyond positions and titles. Through my involvement in student organizations and service initiatives, I am learning that impact often comes from consistency, presence, and a willingness to support others.
