Preparing for and taking a professional certification exam (4-6 points)
I completed the Stop the Bleed course while in my career enrichment program at Jefferson University. This certification involves taking a course from an authorized provider, like the American College of Surgeons (ACS), which teaches life-saving bleeding control techniques. I took a lot from the course in not just learning about techniques to stop bleeds, but also understanding my role as a bystander or healthcare professional in a desperate situation. It taught me ways to overcome fear in these high pressure situations that I believe will be very important as I enter my career. I learned that I am at a point where I can be trusted with someone's life, and that it a realization that has really stuck with me. Especially considering that helping someone with excessive bleeding could be something that I occur in life.
