Organizing a conference or workshop: 9 points (Dominique Preston, Class of 2027)
As president/ founder of the AUC Pre-PA Club, I had the honor of planning a tour of Emory University’s campus led by Emory PA Students. 19 students were in attendance. The strengths of this activity included the fact that we were able to utilize the app Feti to provide free transportation for the students to Emory’s campus and back to the AUC after the tour. Additionally, we were blessed to have the same PA students who spoke on our Emory PA student panel conduct the tour for us. Having these familiar faces made it easier to feel comfortable enough to ask whatever questions we wanted to ask during the tour. I am so grateful for their help. Some weaknesses included an unexpectedly long wait time for one of the Feti shuttles, so a portion of the students got to Emory’s campus a little later than the rest of the students did. But thankfully, my E-board and I were able to problem solve and come up with a quick and efficient solution allowing the students to still be able to have their full tour time. To build on this experience, I will follow up with the Emory PA students to possibly plan a collaborative event with them once again this upcoming Spring semester. I will also have the club members to write “thank you” cards to the Emory students who have been helping us thus far. We really appreciate them!
