Organizing a conference or workshop: 9 points (Dominique Preston, Class of 2027)

As president/ founder of the AUC Pre-PA Club, I had the honor of planning a panel with Emory PA Students. Alexis Reed, Camille King, Christopher Nava, and Andrien Wilson graced us with their presence via Google Meet and answered around 35 students’ questions about Emory and PA school in general. In planning this event, keeping communication with the PA students and with my club members, and troubleshooting technical difficulties during the panel, I learned how to be better organized, how to stay calm under pressure, and the importance of following up with my networks. This event was a huge success overall, as student feedback reflected that this event has helped them to become more confident in going into PA school applications. If I could do this event over again, I would try to have it in person next time. That way, some of the technical difficulties we experienced would not have taken place. I am extremely grateful for the engagement of my club members, the helpfulness of my club’s E-board, and the advice of the Emory PA students.
