Nyabinghi Irving-Hamilton showing:Cultural Exploration: Immerse yourself in diverse cultures through performances, exhibits, and community engagement. 2 points
For my theater class this semester, I had to attend a showing of Hamilton in theaters and analyze it. I have been a fan since I was about 12, so it definitely wasn't my first time seeing it. Watching it on the big screen gave me the chance to see many little details that I had missed during previous viewings. A really cool detail that I noticed is that while Jefferson, Madison, and Burr confront Hamilton, Maria Reynolds stands in the background in her red dress. She is also in the background of many other scenes related to her scandal. In the Reynolds Pamphlet, she hands some of the papers out to people while they're dancing. Her husband also stands in the background of some scenes and is seen multiple times during the Reynolds pamphlet, almost rubbing it in. I have always wondered, though, if the scandal didn't affect him at all, considering his wife was outed to be sleeping with one of the founding fathers, wouldn't it greatly ruin his reputation as much as Hamilton's? I feel that, given how much people worried about their reputations and how much they talked, it would just as much mess him up as it did Hamilton. I would assume he and his wife would be called disgraces
