Nyabinghi Irving-Daughters screening: Attending documentary film screening: 2 points
The movie daughters really touched me as someone who's father was not incarcerated, but wasn't as present in my life as he should've been. I really saw myself in Ja'Ana and Santana throughout the movie. I really enjoyed how it focused on the daughter's experiences, showing the other side of a situation where we usually only see how it affects the mom or dad trying to raise them. It really opened up my perspective, and the co-producer's explanation of the boundaries they kept in place really helped me to understand how it truly made the daughters feel throughout the process. When I heard that Aubrey's father got his sentence and it was 10 years, my heart broke for her, not him.
