Million Crane project: Chloe Billingslea (4-6 points)

The Million Crane project is one of the projects under my kindness initiative that I founded. This project starts with perfectly cutting paper squares that I then hand dye and leave out to dry. Afterwards I intricately fold each one to create origami paper cranes that I then write positive messages on and spread throughout my community. Each step of my purposeful process is just as intentional as my folds. Creating this army of positivity not only provides encouragement for my community, but also allows me to slow myself and focus on care being put into each crane with a byproduct of care being put within myself as well. The process of hand dyeing adds to their uniqueness in that no two pieces are exactly alike, showcasing the individuality found in differences. Folding by hand creates a personal connection to my work, each one represents more than just being an object, but a thoughtful piece of encouragement. In sprinkling these cranes around my community, my project extends beyond myself. The little messages are my way of uplifting and inspiring those that I may not even know. I consider a cranes job done when even a small moment creates a spark of joy for those who unexpectedly come across them. The Million Crane project allows me to transform my act of creativity into a shared positive experience in the spaces we go through casually every day.
