Leadership Role in an Academic Organization (3pts)
This year marks my second and final year as a member of the Honors Program Student Association E-Board. In my role as Archives Chair, I have been responsible for curating an archive that reflects the culture of the EWG Honors program, for future and prospective students, as well as the broader college. In my role, along with the Archives Intern, I have planned events in conjunction with Professor Ariana Benson and her new book, Black Pastoral. Additionally, for our first Black August Event this semester, I printed materials, with the help of Spelman Archivists Ms. Holly and Ms. Nikki, that demonstrated the history of Spelman students honoring and engaging the legacy of Black freedom fighters and political prisoners.
More recently, I have relaunched The Continuum, an undergraduate journal that uniquely displays the knowledge production of EWG Honors students. Our first issue will be released by the end of this semester. And, unexpectedly, I have helped launch Friend of My Mind, a podcast that stems from deliberative exchange where we analyze and connect cultural moments to academic theory. Both The Continuum and Friend of My Mind hope to display what dialogue and discussions honors students are having outside of the classroom, while demonstrating how we are remaining engaged amongst current events - Jayda Hendrickson
