Leadership Role in Academic Organizations (3 pts) (Girls Who Code - Treasurer) - Class of 2027

Serving as Treasurer of the Girls Who Code Spelman College Loop has been a formative leadership experience that has deepened my capacity to advocate, collaborate, and lead with intention. In this role, I worked closely with our executive board to design programming and secure full funding from the national Girls Who Code chapter by articulating how our initiatives would directly support members and advance our mission. Successfully advocating for organizational resources reinforced the critical importance of strategic communication, financial stewardship, and accountability in student leadership.

Beyond budget management, this role demanded consistent collaboration with the E-board to curate events that reflected the evolving needs and aspirations of our members while fostering both community and technical growth. Contributing to these decisions allowed me to help shape spaces where women in tech feel genuinely represented, supported, and empowered. This experience connects directly to my academic and professional commitment to building inclusive systems and ensuring resources are deployed intentionally to create meaningful impact.

Serving in this position affirmed my belief that leadership is not defined by visibility alone, but by responsibility, advocacy, and follow-through. Moving forward, I am committed to continuing to lead in ways that amplify underrepresented voices, strengthen community, and create pathways for women in technology to thrive.
