Elena Valdez: Attending the Howard Thurman Honors Program Student Association Community Service Event (3 points)

 · Attending Honors Program events (lectures, workshops, social gatherings): 3 points

On January 19th, I attended the Howard Thurman Honors Program Student Association community service event that aimed to assemble and package personal care supplies for the local community. This event, held on Martin Luther King Junior Day, aimed to embody the principles that MLK championed for, including equity and giving back to the community. Ultimately, this event supported Project Comfort, as this was their annual hygiene packing kit initiative. This activity contributed to my personal development because it allowed me to contribute to a mission of compassion, humanity, and a care for others. This event caused me to think deeper about the different kinds of contributions I can make in service of others, whether that be with a large organization or in small acts.
