Chandler Warden - Networking: developing a professional mentor relationship: Mr. John Bluford III (4-6 points), Class of 2027

Mr. John Bluford has been an extraordinary mentor throughout my undergraduate journey, guiding me as I explored my interests in healthcare and research. He first welcomed me into the Bluford Healthcare Leadership Institute the summer after my freshman year, providing an environment where I could learn, grow, and begin to envision the impact I could have in the health sciences. His encouragement and support helped me see the value of leadership, service, and professional development in shaping a meaningful career.

Following that experience, Mr. Bluford played a pivotal role in helping me secure a research assistant position the summer after my sophomore year. Through his guidance, I not only gained hands-on research experience but also learned how to navigate professional opportunities and build connections that would support my long-term goals. Beyond practical advice, he has consistently provided mentorship that has helped me clarify my career path, strengthen my confidence, and remain focused on my aspirations in healthcare.

Mr. Bluford’s mentorship has been instrumental in helping me explore my interests, develop professional skills, and make informed decisions about my future. His dedication and guidance have left a lasting impact, inspiring me to approach my career with purpose, resilience, and a commitment to making a difference in healthcare.
