My time at Dental Dreams LLC under the mentorship of Dr. Zerita Buchanan was a defining experience in my journey toward dentistry. I initially began at the practice as a shadow, observing Dr. Buchanan as she cared for patients and managed a fast-paced clinical environment. During this phase, I focused on understanding patient flow, chairside manner, and the importance of clear communication in building trust, especially with pediatric and underserved populations.

As time progressed, Dr. Buchanan entrusted me with greater responsibility, and I transitioned from shadowing into serving as her dental assistant while still in school. This role allowed me to gain hands-on clinical experience, including assisting during procedures, preparing treatment rooms, managing instruments, and supporting infection control protocols. Working closely with Dr. Buchanan helped me appreciate the precision, efficiency, and compassion required in daily dental practice.

Beyond technical skills, this experience strengthened my confidence and reinforced my commitment to pursuing dentistry. Dr. Buchanan modeled professionalism, leadership, and patient advocacy, showing me how impactful a dentist can be within a community. Dental Dreams LLC became more than a workplace for me. It became a learning environment that solidified my passion for oral health care and affirmed my desire to become a dentist who serves with skill, empathy, and purpose.
