Averi Rodriguez (Class of 2028): Developing a Professional Mentor Relationship - Collegiate 100 Mentor Program (5 points)

My mentor relationship with Phillip through the Trailblazing Chapter of Collegiate 100 (C100) has been a foundational component of my personal, academic, and professional development.  Through consistent calls and in-person meetings, Phillip has guided me in intentional goal-setting, strategic planning, and ongoing self-evaluation—helping me clarify my long-term vision and approach each step with purpose.  Rather than focusing on activity alone, our conversations emphasize alignment, accountability, and thoughtful decision-making, which has reshaped how I define progress and success.

Phillip’s experience in the healthcare field has added valuable perspective as I continue navigating my own future and leadership identity.  His insights have encouraged me to think more deeply about service, resilience, and the level of discipline required to lead effectively in high-impact environments.  Through this mentorship, I have developed greater self-awareness and confidence, learning to prioritize intentionally, manage competing commitments, and trust my voice when making important decisions.  I now apply these lessons by approaching opportunities and challenges with a clearer framework—setting defined goals, reassessing progress, and adjusting my plans as needed—allowing me to move forward with greater clarity, focus, and long-term intention.
