Attending performances (theater/musical): Hell's Kitchen (2 pts) - Kai Washington (Class of 2028)

To start off the New Year, my family and I saw a performance of the musical Hell's Kitchen, inspired by and featuring Alicia Keys' music. The play explores themes of navigating relationships and discovering one's identity while growing up, which resonated with me as I reflected on my own experiences balancing independence, family expectations, and personal growth. The musical's storytelling also highlighted the unique ability of music to convey both narrative and emotion across different contexts. For example, Keys' song "No One" was used to describe the love between the main character and her mother, rather than the romantic meaning that many listeners typically associate with it.
