Attending performances (theater, musical, concerts, opera, dance): 2-3 points Niya Neblett

I had the privilege of attending Alicia Keys' production of Hell's Kitchen, a powerful coming-of-age story centered on a young biracial girl growing in New York City while navigating the complexities of a strained mother-daughter relationship. The production explored themes of risk-taking, leadership, self-discovery, and learning when to hold on versus when to let go, all of which were amplified through the integration of Alicia Keys' music. What stood out most to me was the emphasis on mentorship and the necessity of having an  outlet whether through music, art, or community. This expanded my thinking by highlighting how support systems outside of the home can be just as transformative as familial relationships. On a personal level, the story pushed me to reflect on my own need for creative and emotional outlets and affirmed my desire to seek mentorship more intentionally. I learned that I thrive when I have spaces and people that allow me to express myself freely and feel supported. Moving forward, I will apply these lessons by investing more deeply in mentorship relationships and carving out consistent time for self-expression.
