Attending a Golf Event and Building Partnerships: Chloe Billingslea (4-5 points)
Before arriving on campus, I had the honor of attending a
golf event that not only focused on the importance improving our skills on the
green, but also our skills within networking confidently as young woman. After
our class in improving our chipping and full swings, we discussed why these skills
were just as helpful in aiding a healthy lifestyle as they were in building partnerships
and connections. After all, how are we as young ladies supposed to make the multimillion
dollar deals of the future, if we're not trained in the avenues that these
deals are usually made. Gone are the days of missed opportunities just because
we didn't know how to play the men's "let's discuss further over golf"
game. We were able to further our skills and strut confidently onto the green. Equipped
with technical skills, the courage to take up space, and the personality to build
meaningful connections, all to claim our voices at the tables where decisions
are made. This experience reminded me that preparation and experience extends
from the classroom and beyond. Empowerment can begin in taking up space
and excelling areas that we as young Black woman are least expected in.
