Attending a career-related workshop or seminar: (2-3 points) Niya Neblett

I attended a conversation with Michael Binns, a dynamic leader at Meta, where he discussed his upbringing, the challenges he faced with immigration, and the responsibility of being the primary breadwinner for his family at a young age. He emphasized the importance of attending an HBCU as a Morgan State alumnus and shared his hope of sending his children to Spelman College. A key takeaway from the conversation was the importance of intellectual property and how legal considerations shape innovation and product management within large technology companies. This perspective significantly expanded my thinking, as I had not seriously considered the legal and policy dimensions of technology. The discussion encouraged my personal and academic growth by pushing me to think beyond the technical aspects of computer science. Moving forward, I plan to apply these insights by exploring roles at the intersection of technology and law. By examining how different industries manage innovation responsibly, I hope to identify where my skills as a computer science major can be most impactful.
