Responsible Conduct of Research Certification
Completing the Responsible Conduct of Research training deepened my understanding of the ethical commitments required to be a researcher. We discussed topics ranging from data integrity and authorship to conflict of interest and scientific misconduct. While all modules were important, the ethics components interested me the most, reminding me that research is not neutral and it directly affects people, communities, and public trust. The training strengthened my Ethical Discernment, helping me recognize the subtle decisions that shape the integrity of scientific work. It also encouraged Purposeful Attention, reinforcing that thoughtful and honest research practices are essential to protecting others and producing reliable and accurate results. Engaging with these topics, especially the real life examples showed me that ethical lapses often occur when people assume they are “above” questioning or the rules. This training affirmed my commitment to becoming a physician who prioritizes accountability and moral responsibility.
