Organizing a career-related event (9 points) - Lydia Scott

As Vice President of Spelman Film Fusion, I had the wonderful opportunity to not only curate SFF Internship Week—a week full of events tailored to help students wanting to break into the industry—but also to participate in one of the events myself! Our first event was a student panel, in which students from all different walks of filmmaking were able to speak to our members and help give advice, whether they want to go into corporate, production, entertainment, freelance, etc!

This was my first time ever participating in a panel of any kind, and while it was intimidating, it was also so invigorating. I found that just as much as I was giving advice and tips, I was learning from the peers sitting beside me. I am grateful for the experiences I've been able to gather so far, but I'm always looking to learn and expand my worldview, so it was wonderful being able to learn from everyone. It was also super fun as we had a Spelman alumna moderating the panel, and she used to be on the SFF e-board my freshman year, so it was incredibly full circle and heartwarming!

The other events from the week included an Resume Workshop, in which we collaborated with Career Planning & Development, and a Professional Industry Panel, in which our connections in the industry called in over zoom to speak with our students. All in all, it was an incredibly successful week.
