Christian Scott- Job Shadowing or Informational Interview (4 pts.) : Medical Shadowing Through MedSTEMPowered

 Over the summer, I was able to complete the MedSTEMPowered's summer program where I could virtually shadow physicians with like-minded peers. These meetings allowed us to be inquisitive and gain insight on various specialities in medicine. While I did not physically shadow them in person, I still gained many important aspects in order to see where I can contribute best to healthcare. I was introduced to how physicians approach patient care beyond diagnosis and treatment. I gained a clearer understanding of the importance of clinical reasoning, effective communication, and ethical responsibility. Observing how physicians handled difficult scenarios with poise and humility was very inspiring for me as a future doctor. 

Overall, completing this virtual medical shadowing experience strengthened my commitment to pursuing a career in medicine and affirmed the value of intentional exposure to the field. By engaging in this opportunity outside of the academic semester, I was able to use the summer period productively to clarify my goals and deepen my understanding of the realities of medical practice. This experience will inform how I approach future coursework, clinical opportunities, and continued professional development.
