Black Horror Film Screening and Chat
The Black horror film discussion centered on Get Out and how Black creators have shaped the horror genre even early on. We discussed how racial tension, surveillance, and psychological fear appear both in British horror literature and modern Black horror, revealing a long-standing lineage of social critique embedded in the genre. This conversation strengthened my Historical Consciousness, connecting current cinematic narratives to their deeper cultural and literary roots. The discussion encouraged Radical Inquiry, challenging me to question how horror reflects and resists structures of oppression. Overall, the chat expanded my understanding of horror as a space where Black filmmakers reclaim voice and reframe storytelling culturally.
