This semester, I completed my third production with Spriggs-Burroughs Drama and Dance Ensemble. Festival of Eccentrics (FOE 25) was tough, for personal and interpersonal reasons. I had to navigate internal conflicts that impacted my ability to work with other people in the organization. Externally, I struggled to balance all of my courses with the demanding rehearsal schedule, especially during Tech Week. I also had to navigate the dual perspective that came with being a cast member and production member, as I served as treasurer of the organization. Looking back, I wish I had leaned more into my role as treasurer to ensure I was in communication with the rest of the production team, and that we were strictly following a set budget. I also wish that I had expressed the areas of discontent that I had with multiple aspects of the production, instead of letting my emotions simmer until they boiled over. Moving forward, I will not be a cast member in Art After Dark 2026. If I do remain treasurer of Spriggs-Burroughs, I will be a more active member of the production team, and assert my position. If I decide to become more directly involved, I would love to get involved with the make up team.
