Nia Gooden - Obtaining a Library Card (1-2 points) - Class of 2029

 

Early on in the semester I obtained the barcode for my ID to certify that I have access to the AUC Robert W. Woodruff Library. This barcode will serve as my library card throughout my time here at Spelman. While obtaining a library card is a simple task, it is one that is imperative to my education. During the process of getting my library card I was able to interact with the staff at the information desk. After having interacted with them once while receiving my library card, I was far more comfortable speaking to them in my subsequent visits to the library. The experience of obtaining my library card was both inspiring and nostalgic for me. As a kid, the library was one of my favorite places to go and each visit was filled with excitement and the anticipation of the stories I would get to read. Visiting an academic library as a new college student filled me with a similar yet distinctive sense of anticipation. With this library I look forward to the research, studying, and growth that will take place here as I learn how to navigate the library seamlessly. I know the library will facilitate my academic advancement as a scholar.
