Christina Simone Coker (Class Of 2029) — Empowerment Through Awareness (Volunteering In Career Interest, 3 Points)

In early October, I volunteered with The Spelman Section of NCNW and BYEN House in hosting an inspiring Breast Cancer Awareness Event showcasing the power of education and community. A major strength was how inclusive and informative the event was, offering resources while fostering unity among students. However, it could have been improved with more attendees and interactive activities.

This event connected to my previous experiences in health advocacy and my growing interest in pediatrics; with both emphasizing prevention, awareness, and care. I noticed a recurring theme of empowerment through knowledge and compassion.

Participating strengthened my commitment to health education and community outreach. Moving forward, I plan to stay active in similar initiatives that combine service, advocacy, and medicine to uplift others.

Authentically,

Christina Simone Coker
