Studying Abroad: Semester Abroad in London(8 pts) - Class of 2027

Choosing to live outside of Atlanta is by far the most nerve-wracking experience I have ever done. My whole life has been spent and developed in Atlanta: my home, my schools, even my college. However, I knew that I would be doing myself a disservice if I let the opportunity of going eons outside of my comfort zone pass me by. I am currently a month into my study abroad experience, and I have already experienced so much. Whether that is riding the tube alone, making friends with other international students, or eating local food. It is so amazing how the most nerve-wracking decision has also become the best decision of my life. I have learned so much about the things I like to do, how I uniquely communicate, and even what I want to get out of my life. Getting out of the bubble I have spent my entire life in has broadened my cultural understanding in a way I didn't think was possible. Going to Spelman College, I believed that I was already ahead with my cultural understanding and of being open-minded, but being steeped into a new culture has opened my eyes more than any other experience in my life has. So, even though I have 2 and a half months left of this incredible opportunity, I plan on keeping the momentum going and learn and absorb as much as I can.
