Secretary of First Generation Scholars Club

Being elected Secretary of the First-Generation Scholars Club has been one of the most meaningful parts of my college experience so far. Our organization is dedicated to creating a supportive space for students who are the first in their families to attend college—helping each other navigate academics, career goals, and personal growth. As secretary, I’ve had the chance to combine organization and creativity to help the club run smoothly while keeping our members engaged and informed. One of the biggest strengths of our club is its sense of community. Everyone brings different experiences and goals, but we all share the same drive to succeed and uplift one another. Being part of the executive board has allowed me to help plan events, send campus-wide communications, and track attendance and participation. I’ve learned how much behind-the-scenes coordination goes into keeping a student organization active and connected. At times, balancing communication and logistics can be a challenge—especially around busy academic weeks when everyone’s schedules conflict. However, these moments have taught me valuable lessons about time management, adaptability, and teamwork. This role has helped me grow in ways that connect directly to my personal and professional goals. As someone interested in healthcare and leadership, I’ve realized that strong communication is crucial for both. Serving as secretary has strengthened my ability to stay organized, handle details efficiently, and communicate clearly, which are all skills that will serve me well in any professional setting. Being part of the First-Gen Scholars Club reminds me that success isn’t just individual, but it’s built through community and shared support. This experience has motivated me to keep finding ways to lead and serve, especially in spaces that empower others. I’ve grown more confident speaking up in meetings, taking initiative, and representing my peers. Being a part of this organizations and on the executive board means creating a foundation where students like me can thrive. Christian Scott
