Summer 2025 Internship Deloitte Discovery II - Sarah Lokenauth

From June 2025 - Aug.2025 I had the privilege of participating in Deloitte's Discovery II- Cyber Consulting internship. This opportunity taught me a lot about cybersecurity, and helped serve as a broader exploration of what my career options are as I prepare to enter my senior year in fall of 2026. 

During the internship I worked with a client advising on their cybsercurity needs. I resonated with the aspects of problem-solving and creative thinking that are required for consulting and cyber solution recommendations. I also experienced participating in Deloitte's purpose marketplace council to identify non-profits in Atlanta that could be good to partner with and enjoyed having that social impact where I was able to give back.

Reflecting on my experience, I learned a lot while working with Deloitte, and enjoyed my time there. However, I do feel that I want my future work to be more social-justice oriented perhaps related to the policy sphere. I am grateful for this experience as it helped me gain a clearer picture of the type of life I want as well as learning what I do and don't like about certain fields. I learned that there is a lot to learn from corporations, that being said, I'm not sure the corporate atmosphere is necessarily where I want to be at this stage of my life. Also, I found that consulting on the whole connected to my coursework in economics as I evaluated the potential financial feasibility of different solutions.
