Samantha E. Johnson: Earning and Working in an internship (5 Points)
I was selected as the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Belonging, and Service Intern for the Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society for First-Year Success.
As a freshman, I was inducted into Alpha Lambda Delta, an organization that celebrates academic excellence among first-year students and supports them through leadership, scholarship, and service opportunities. Being welcomed into this society at such a pivotal stage in my college journey gave me community, confidence, and motivation to strive for continued success. To now step into a leadership role within ALD feels like a full-circle moment and serves as an opportunity to give back to the society that poured so much into me.
In this role, I will serve as a bridge between ALD’s mission and its members by helping design, organize, and execute programming that advances understanding, inclusion, and belonging. I will assist with developing and curating educational resources, training materials, and content that fosters equity within the organization. In service of community engagement, I will support the planning and coordination of ALD’s service initiatives, helping to shape themes, mobilize volunteer participation, and ensure that our service reflects principles of equity and access. Additionally, I will collaborate with ALD’s leadership and communications teams to ensure our messaging reflects the society’s values of diversity, scholarship, and belonging, while also equipping chapters nationwide with the tools to meaningfully carry this work forward.
My journey has been deeply rooted in both scholarship and service, and this position allows me to bring those passions together in a way that not only supports fellow students but also amplifies the impact of ALD. I am eager to develop programming that sparks dialogue, builds connections across differences, and reinforces the belief that belonging is essential to both personal and academic success.
I am truly excited for the work ahead and for the chance to contribute to ALD’s mission in a way that embodies purpose, leadership, and impact.
